Kitchen & Bath Remodeling
Bathroom Remodeling in San Francisco
Bathrooms are small, which makes people think they are simple. They are the most trade-dense room in a house: plumbing, electrical, waterproofing, tile and ventilation inside a few dozen square feet, where a mistake behind the tile does not show up for two years.
What the job involves
The work
- Demolition and layout reconfiguration
- Shower and wet-area waterproofing
- Plumbing relocation, fixtures and vanities
- Exhaust fans and lighting
- Tile, flooring and trim
- Moisture-resistant paint and finishes
Details that decide the result
- Slope and drainage set before tiling
- Waterproof membrane taken up the walls properly
- Exhaust sized to the room, not to the fixture
- Door and threshold clearances checked against the new floor height
Ventilation is not optional here
In a damp, foggy climate an under-sized or badly ducted exhaust fan will undo a good bathroom within a couple of years: mold in the grout, paint lifting, swollen trim. It is one of the cheapest parts of the job and one of the most common places corners get cut.
Common questions
How long does a bathroom take?
It depends on what is behind the tile. A straight refit is quick; one where the framing or the subfloor has taken water is not. We look before we quote so the timeline is a plan rather than a hope.
Can you reconfigure the layout?
Usually. Moving a shower or a vanity means relocating supply and waste, which is straightforward when we are already doing the plumbing. Moving a toilet is the one that most often runs into the existing stack.
Can you handle a job that crosses trades?
That is the main reason to call us. A bathroom remodel touches plumbing, electrical, tile, drywall and paint, and we cover all of it, so you are not coordinating four contractors and absorbing the gaps between them.
Do you charge for an estimate?
No. We come out, look at the actual job, and quote it. That free visit is how we price everything. Pricing a job properly usually means seeing it, which is why we do not give firm numbers over the phone.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. California contractor license #1132115. You can look it up on the CSLB website with that number.
