Interior & Exterior Painting

Interior Painting in San Francisco

Single rooms through to whole houses. On older San Francisco homes the walls are usually plaster rather than drywall, and what you do to them before the first coat decides how the finish looks and how long it holds.

What the job involves

Preparation

  • Filling, patching and skim coating
  • Plaster repair and crack bridging
  • Sanding and priming
  • Masking, covering and floor protection

Painting

  • Walls, ceilings and trim
  • Doors, frames and baseboards
  • Cabinet and built-in refinishing
  • Moisture-resistant finishes for bathrooms and kitchens

Plaster is not drywall

A lot of this city's housing has lath and plaster walls, and they behave differently. They crack along different lines, they take filler differently, and a coat rolled straight over a hairline crack will show it again within a season. Most of the finish quality comes from getting that preparation right.

Common questions

Can you work while we are living here?

Yes, and most interior work is done that way. We mask and cover, work room by room where we can, and clean up at the end of each day rather than at the end of the job.

Can you match an existing color?

Usually. Bring us a chip off the wall or a piece of trim and it can be matched at the paint store.

Do you charge for an estimate?

No. We come out, look at the actual job, and quote it. That free visit is how we price everything. Pricing a job properly usually means seeing it, which is why we do not give firm numbers over the phone.

Do you cover my area?

We work across San Francisco, the Peninsula and the East Bay. If you are not sure whether you are in range, call and ask. The answer is usually yes.

Need interior painting?

Call and describe the job, or send a few details and we will come out and price it.
